March 2026 in Bologna: Otello and Zeno’s Conscience at Teatro Duse, Giorgia and Jason Derulo at Unipol Arena, The Little Prince at Teatro Celebrazioni, and Federico Buffa with Kobe Bryant

Here in Bologna we are still in the heart of winter, but March is no longer that far away. In just a few weeks, spring will arrive—a new season bringing a different kind of energy that will be reflected in the streets of our city.

Little by little, the days will grow longer, the city center will come back to life as it should, and the events calendar will become even richer, with concerts, shows, exhibitions, and unmissable appointments. Here’s what to do and see in Bologna in March 2026.

Shows at Teatro Duse: Otello and Zeno’s Conscience – 1 March and 3–4 March 2026

The season lights up at Teatro Duse in the center of Bologna. Coming soon to the stage is Otello, William Shakespeare’s tragedy, scheduled from 28 February to Sunday 1 March 2026.

A story of love and jealousy, freedom and betrayal, power and illusion. At the heart of the drama is the intense and tragic relationship between Desdemona—a courageous, free-spirited woman—and Otello, the outsider, the “different” man, who is loved despite prejudice and hostility. A love choice that defies convention and is ultimately suffocated by a spiral of suspicion and violence. A modern and necessary interpretation that highlights the relevance of Shakespeare’s themes today: identity, male power, manipulation, and female freedom.

Just a few days later, another theatrical production of equal depth takes the stage. On the evenings of Tuesday 3 and Wednesday 4 March 2026, Zeno’s Conscience will be performed. An undisputed masterpiece of 20th-century literature, Italo Svevo’s novel celebrated the centenary of its publication in 2023. Innovative, ironic, and deeply European, it continues to captivate audiences thanks to its psychological complexity and the modernity of its writing.

Alfa Mist at Lokomotiv, Bologna – 3 March 2026

Producer, rapper, and pianist Alfa Mist returns to Italy for three unmissable dates, one of which is right here in Bologna. On the evening of Tuesday 3 March, at the Locomotiv Club, Italian audiences will have the chance to hear Roulette live, the new album released on 3 October 2025 by Sekito Records. Since the release of his first full project Nocturne in 2015, Alfa Mist has established himself as one of the most in-demand musical voices in the UK. His music ranges from hip-hop production to rap, from neoclassical works to remixes of iconic tracks.

Candlelight Experience in Bologna – 6–7 March 2026

For lovers of music and candlelit concerts, March 2026 is the perfect month to be in Bologna. At the Oratorio San Filippo Neri, a new way of experiencing different music genres arrives: classical, jazz, pop, film scores, and ballet. A rich and varied program ranging from the Beatles to Vivaldi, from Ludovico Einaudi to Queen, from Coldplay to many others. Professional musicians from all over the world will perform with the aim of making each show unique and unforgettable. The events are scheduled for 6–7 March 2026.

Jason Derulo and Giorgia at Unipol Arena – 6 and 21 March 2026

It’s not in central Bologna, but for music lovers it’s still absolutely worth it. At the Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno, the great Jason Derulo arrives. This is the only Italian date for the American singer, who on Friday 6 March 2026 will present his The Last Dance World Tour. With over 250 million singles sold and tens of billions of streams, his repertoire includes multi-platinum, generation-defining hits such as “Talk Dirty [feat. 2 Chainz],” “Wiggle,” “Swalla,” and “Savage Love.”

But that’s not all at the Unipol Arena. Giorgia’s tour of Italy’s major indoor arenas continues with the Bologna stop. In the setlist, the Roman singer will present songs from G, her new album of original material, released almost three years after her previous record. Naturally, her greatest hits—spanning a 30-year career and making her one of the most beloved voices in Italian music—will not be missing. The concert is scheduled for the evening of Saturday 21 March.

The Little Prince at Teatro Celebrazioni – from 6 to 8 March 2026

Speaking of novels that made history, The Little Prince also comes to the stage. From Friday 6 to Sunday 8 March 2026, Teatro Celebrazioni will host The Little Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. The version directed by Stefano Genovese has been completely renewed and is even more spectacular: a performance balanced between prose, musical theatre, circus art, and installation, unfolding through the many languages of storytelling, music, singing, set design, and performance. A timeless classic loved by both adults and children for generations.

Otto Infinito | Life and Death of a Mamba with Federico Buffa – 16 March 2026

Federico Buffa returns to Teatro Duse in Bologna, Italy’s most famous “Basket City,” with two new performances of Otto Infinito – Life and Death of a Mamba, the story dedicated to Kobe Bryant, one of the greatest basketball players of all time. After the first date on 17 February, the show returns on Monday evening, 16 March 2026.

The performance is a theatrical narrative in which Italy’s most renowned sports storyteller explores the figure of global basketball legend Kobe Bryant, delving into his obsession with success and his thirst for knowledge, through a compelling story rich in anecdotes and reflections. With this show, Federico Buffa returns to the theatre with his great passion—basketball—using it to explore the human condition through themes such as dreams, inner struggle, and the desire to push beyond one’s limits.
